Weekly Update- Indian stocks logged strong gains in the week ended Friday, 15 Sept 2017 led by gains in pharma and auto stocks. The BSE Small-Cap and BSE Mid-Cap indices outperformed the Sensex during the week. While the BSE MidCap advanced 217.99 points or 1.38% to settle at 15,972.74, the SmallCap index gained 362.56 pts or 2.22% to settle at 16,687.76.

In the week ended the Sensex rose 585.09 pts or 1.85 percent to settle at 32,272.61. The NSE Nifty index rose 150.60 points or 1.52 percent to settle at 10,085.40.

All through the previous five days, the Sensex had gained 524.44 points on solid global cues on receding concerns on North Korea and sustained buying by domestic investors.

On the macro front, the yearly rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, figured provisionally at 3.24% for August 2017, corresponding to 1.88% in July 2017 and 1.09% in August 2016, as per data which was announced on Friday, 14 Sept 2017.

The price of Oil soared to their highest weekly rise since on higher demand forecasts and the recommence of refineries in US. The OPEC this week predicted higher demand for its oil in 2018 and pointed to cues of a tighter global market.

Sensex crosses 32,000 mark; Top stocks in focus
Domestic equity markets open on a positive note on Tuesday, against the previous session’s closing with firm global cues. At 10.40 am BSE Sensex gains 130 points, to 32,012, while the Nifty50 rises 39 points, to 10,045. The Indian rupee opened slightly weak against the USD. The shares of Sun Pharma, Tata Steel and Asian Paints climbed, whereas the shares of ONGC and Coal India fell in the morning hours.

A few top stocks that in focus today:
Godrej Industries gained 3% after its arm Godrej Agrovet got Sebi’s go-ahead to raise an estimated Rs 1,000-1,200 crore through an initial public offering.

Stocks of Tata Steel hit an over Six-year high of Rs 692, up 4.7 percent on BSE today morning after Tata Steel UK announced that the British Steel Pension Scheme has been separated from the company. Tata Steel stock was trading at its highest level since January 2011.

IndiGo’s parent arm Inter-Globe Aviation has announced some of its promoter organisations will offload shares under an IPP (institutional placement) programme in which it is expected fresh issuance of shares.

Share holders of Religare Enterprises have approved a proposal to invest up to Rs 500.00 crore in its arm Religare Capital Markets for repaying debt for Mauritius business, and capital needs of India business. 

Tata Motors would invest Rs 1,500 crore across various segments of freight-haulers to secure its leadership credentials to help recover some of the lost market-share in the past couple of months. 

11 Sept Monday News- Stocks of Auto companies rise post GST council meet

Shares of auto firms were trading higher in early trade, Monday, due to Indian car companies sounded relieved after the GST Council has raised the vehicle cess on Saturday, by less than the maximum possible, though luxury auto companies were more cautious in their assessment of the new rates. 

In the early hours today, the Nifty Auto index was trading 0.62% up at 10,846 while Tata Motors DVR was up 1.24%, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) was up 0.86% and Maruti Suzuki BSE 1.03 % rose 0.72%. 

The GST Council meet held on Saturday left untouched the rates on small cars and hybrid vehicles. But mid-sized cars attract a cess i.e, 2% points higher.

Meantime, M&M, Motor India Ltd, Toyota Kirloskar Audi India, Jaguar Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz are planning to pass on the increased cess to buyers, 

At 10.20 am, the BSE Sensex is trading at 31,846 up 158 points, while Nifty is trading at 9,983 up 48 points. A total of 55 stocks clocked a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 11 stocks registered a new 52-week low on the NSE.

L&T gains 5% on hopes of winning defence contracts of Rs 40,000 cr

The stock of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) was registering an upward momentum on the exchanges today’s’ trade since the stock surged over 4 percent amid high volume trading. The company is hopeful of bagging some six defence contracts amounting to Rs 40,000 crore. L&T stock gained 4.83% to Rs 1,181 in intraday trade on the BSE. The stock was the top gainer on both Sensex & Nifty.

The counter has witnessed huge trading activities with a combined 2.9 million shares exchanging hands on both Exchanges so far. On an average a combined 1.3 million shares were traded daily in the past fourteen days on BSE & NSE. 

The stock attracted a volume of 30,20,232 shares and traded value of Rs. 35,190.23 lakh on the NSE. L&T had hit its 52-week high value of Rs 1,222.63 on May 30, 2017, and 52-week low of Rs 863.40 on Nov 9, 2016, on the NSE.

The Sensex and Nifty opened in the positive zone on Tuesday, regaining from the losses of the last session. The toppers in the Sensex pack included Reliance Industries, Asian Paint, Adani Ports, Tata Steel, ONGC, Axis Bank, Dr Reddy’s, Kotak Bank, Maruti, Tata Motors, and L&T, rising up to 1.25%.

Shares of Sun TV followed by Reliance Industries Infosys and YES Bank were trading as the most active stocks in terms of value on NSE in Tuesday’s trade. 

Investors turned to buying in bank, realty and auto stocks. 

Reliance Capital has moved ex-Home Finance business from Tuesday. The stock’s Future and Option contracts have expired on Monday. The stock settled at Rs. 687.40 share apiece at its opening bell on BSE and surged to touch intraday high of Rs. 740 share apiece, up by 7.96 percent within first few minutes’ trade. Reliance Capital share holders will get one free share of Reliance Home Finance as on Sept 6, 2017, for every share held in the company.

At 10 AM, the BSE Sensex is trading at 31,790 up 89 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9,940 up 27 points. A total of 58 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 8 stocks touched a fresh 52-week low on the NSE.

The benchmark indices BSE Sensex and the Nifty 50 index clocked impressive gains in the week ended Friday, 1 Sept 2017 on positive global cues. Except sharp losses on Tuesday, 29 August 2017, the two key indices registered modest gains in 4 trading days of the week.

Through the week, a stellar auto sales and cheering August manufacturing data supported investors put behind the unsatisfactory GDP numbers. The benchmark Sensex went up 162 points to end at 31,892.23 as a three-week high, whereas the Nifty closed short of 10,000. Broad market depicted strength. The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 2.84%. The BSE Small-Cap index advanced 3.09%.

31 Aug Live- Sensex down 71.10 Pts, Nifty lower ahead of Aug F&O expiry

ONGC, Biocon, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Ajanta Pharma, RIL, Fortis Health are few of the stocks among others to watch out for in today’s trade today, 31 August 2017.

Oil & Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) is about to seek consent of shareholders to raise a debt of Rs 25,000 crore to fund the planned acquisition of Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL). ONGC has endorsed raising the debt and would take the proposal to shareholders soon.

India’s major auto players Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki look forward to a slump in demand after the cabinet has approved an ordinance that will permit the cess on sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and larger passenger cars to be raised at 25% from 15% under the GST regime.

Future and Option (F&O) watch:

Benchmark indices opened on a careful note ahead of the expiry of August (F&O). With a single session left in August series, market rollovers moved to 53 percent compared to average roll-overs of 57 percent for last three series. Market wide F&O open interest is Rs 1.36-lakh cr. approx, as compared to Rs 1.40 lakh crore on the D-1 of July expiry.

Live market: Benchmark indices in the meantime are trading with weak note while broader market indices carry on trading in positive terrain. At 10.25 am, the BSE Sensex was trading at 31,596 down 50 points, while Nifty ws trading at 9874 down 10 points.

30 Aug Sensex up 235 Pts, Stocks trade with decent gains in morning trade

Stocks of NTPC followed by Infosys Ltd, DLF Ltd, Ashok Leyland, Hindalco and Bank of Baroda were among the most active stocks in terms of volume on NSE in Wednesday’s morning session. Positive Asian cues supported the sentiment. Pharma stocks, metal stocks, realty & auto stocks surged over 1%. In the Nifty pack, Hindalco, Adani Ports, Ambuja Cements, IOC, Aurobindo Pharma and Vedanta were gaining. 

Regarding NTPC Ltds’ disinvestment start, the govt’s 5 percent stake sale in NTPC got off to a flying start with 86 percent of shares reserved for institutional investors is getting subscribed by today afternoon.

At 10.25 am, the BSE Sensex was up 234.59 pts at 31,622.98 and the NSE Nifty-50 rose 80.85 points to 9,876.90.

In the economic front, FM Arun Jaitley said that India’s first GST collection hit Rs. 92,283 cr in July, surpassing the target of Rs, 91,000 crore.
