Sensex rises 143 points, Nifty near 10,500, RIL, SBI, ICICI Bank top gainers

stock trading tips India’s share markets extended gains to open higher on Wednesday on positive global cues, with Sensex & Nifty inching up by 0.3 percent.

The BSE Sensex was trading 143 points at a high of 33,955.21 and NSE Nifty added 51.65 points to mark the day’s high at 10,493.85.

Shares of Reliance Industries, Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, SBI, Yes Bank, HUL,  Tata Steel were the major gainers among the Sensex stocks while Infosys, Dr Reddy’s, HDFC Bank, ONGC, Asian Paints, Tata Motors slipped upto 2 percent. The heavyweight stocks such as Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, TCS, ITC, SBI, Larsen and Toubro contributed the most to the Sensex gains.

Metal stocks continued to keep up momentum on the back of rising global commodity prices. The Nifty Metal index advanced 0.8 percent in early trade, led by over 1 percent rise in shares of Vedanta Limited and Tata Steel Limited.

Meanwhile, the Indian rupee rose the 4-day rising streak on Wednesday. The domestic currency made a top of 63.50 per US dollar on Wednesday, and was trading down 2 paise at 63.50 against the US dollar.

BSE Sensex gained 98.08 points to open at 33,699.76 whereas NSE Nifty jumped 30.65 points to begin at 10,419.40 in late morning hours. Shares of Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Coal India, and ONGC were the top gainers in the early trade. 

Shares of Tata Motors Ltd, Coal India, Hero MotoCorp Ltd, ONGC, Maruti Suzuki, Dr Reddy’s gained up to 1.6% while Infosys, IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank lost up to 0.7 percent.

The stock of Bharti Airtel shed 0.97 percent to the day’s low of Rs 521 after it has signed an agreement with Millicom International Cellular S.A. 

Shares of LT Foods Ltd rose 4.3 percent to Rs. 84.55 after the company said its Qualified Institutional placement (QIP) opens with a floor price at Rs. 79.13 per share.

The rupee was trading higher against the U.S dollar and was trading at 64.18 a dollar, up 0.09 percent from its last day’s close of 64.24.

Sensex rise over 350 points as Modi led BJP overcoming Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh in exit polls

The BSE Sensex was trading at 33,505.75, up 260 points, while the NSE Nifty50 index was ruling at 10,340.15, up 88 points in later morning Friday. The broader BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices gained 1% each. All sectoral indices on the NSE traded positively led by Nifty Metal, Nifty Infra index that rose near 1.5 percent.

Shares of HDFC Bank rose 2.1% to Rs. 1,876, while HDFC Ltd rose 0.6 percent to Rs. 1,719.55. The HDFC twins said that they consider a fund-raising proposal.

Shares of Vedanta rose 3.3%, HDFC Bank rose 2.6%, Yes Bank surged and GAIL India 1.9% were the major gainers on the Nifty50, among others.

Among 1,977 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,335 shares advanced, 241 shares declined and 401 remained unchanged today. A total of 25 stocks clocked a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 12 stocks crossed a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Meantime, the Indian rupee rose a fresh 3-month high of 64.12 v/s the dollar in early trade on Friday. It opened 19 paise up at 64.15 versus the dollar on Friday.
